World Travel & Tourism Council: Mauritius is a safe destination!

Does the resumption of activities promise a reassuring future? In Mauritius, from a sanitary standpoint, the hard work is already paying off. While the country has displayed effective management in the face of the global pandemic, it is being praised by a prominent organisation in the travel and tourism industry: the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). Indeed, this institution has declared Mauritius as a safe destination relative to the COVID-19... This shall significantly and positively impact not only on the tourism and hotel industry, but on the real estate sector as well, while encouraging future investments.

Coming back to Mauritius foreshadows trust in the destination

It is a fact, and it still holds after several weeks of confinement: there is no local case of COVID-19 reported in Mauritius since the 26th of April. This is why the government lifted the confinement on the 30th of May at midnight… This decision stems from a series of procedures implemented by local authorities while they were monitoring the evolution of the pandemic in the world. After gradually closing down the borders and applying strict confinement measures, along with isolating ill people and intensively testing the public, the country is now heading towards another step.

While looking forward to welcoming its first visitors soon, the Tourism Authority of Mauritius has established rigorous health and safety protocols, working towards the revival of the tourism industry. Point in fact, the return of tourists shall also restore the real estate industry, sparking the interest of foreign investors. Choosing to spend holidays on the island or even for an expatriation would be a pledge of confidence for our COVID-free destination and a great boost for several of its sectors of activity.

As a reminder, the WTTC brings together more than 200 CEOs and leaders of the largest travel and tourism companies, from all around the world and from all industries. The WTTC strives to promote travel and tourism as one of the largest economic sectors in the world, supporting one in 10 jobs (330 million) worldwide and generating 10.3% of global GDP. Over the past 30 years, the WTTC has conducted research on the economic impact of travel and tourism in 185 countries.
