Mauritius prized the Best Destination Country at the International Tourism Conclave & Travel Awards in India

After being ranked in the “Iles de rêve” list of Lonely Planet and after having recently received the prize “l’Etoile d’or international du tourism”, the Mauritian tourist sector continues to confirm itself as an attractive tourist destination worldwide. Mauritius has received the International Tourism Conclave and Travel Awards on the 18th of October 2013 during an event held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

Various promotional campaigns put in place by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority have started to show results, especially regarding Africa. Tourist arrivals from India have been on the rise during the last months. In 2012, 55 197 Indian tourists visited the island compared to 43 376 as at September 2013, India being the 5th largest tourist market for Mauritius.
