Questions to ask yourself before buying a house

Published on the

Acquiring a house is a lifelong and relatively costly investment that requires careful consideration. For this reason, Bank One has chosen to accompany and guide you in this wonderful adventure.

What are your preferences?

Before buying a house, you will first have to determine the geographical location. You will need to consider whether you would prefer to live in an urban or rural area. Do you prefer the proximity to the big cities and the surrounding facilities, or the calm and simplicity of villages? Maybe a smart city is right for you? What is the lifestyle like in the region you want to settle in?

What type of property do you like best?

Whether you choose an apartment, a shared residence, a townhouse or a detached house, it is important to consider the size and space available. Consider the advantages of each.

  • Living in an apartment or a penthouse requires little maintenance, but involves paying a fee to the trustee. Walls, communal areas and parking are shared, which means that you will not have full control over your space and will have less privacy.
  • Living in a townhouse offers the same advantages as an apartment, with common living spaces and management by a trustee. Typically two storeys high, it has a garage attached to the ground floor and fewer units than an apartment building.
  • A house or villa can be modified and extended, which allows you to start with something small ( and thereby cheaper/more affordable) and then increase the size according to your situation and budget.
