Tourism: big success for Mauritius and Rodrigues in Paris and Berlin

The Salon Mondial du Tourisme took place from 17 to 20 March 2016 in Paris. Stands of Mauritius and Rodrigues met strong success since the first day of the event.
Visitors had the opportunity to discover Mauritian kitchen. They were also able to look at the Mauritian Sega.

The representatives of Mauritius Tourism Office and its partners informed the visitors of the charms of the islands. Their goal is to put forward the diversity of the destination. This show was a great opportunity to strengthen the Mauritian destination for French who appreciate our island. Indeed, there was a 14% increase in the number of arrival of French tourists in January 2016 compared to the same period in 2015.

Mauritius has been also put forward during the ITB which was held from 8 to 12 March 2016 in Berlin. A strong delegation composed, among others, of Xavier-Luc Duval, Minister of Tourism and Mr. Arnaud Martin, President of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), attended this global event. It was a successful moment according to the Mauritian delegation. Jean Paul Poussin, Mautourco, said that ITB is a very well organized event which allows one to work in a good atmosphere. Representatives from the Office du Tourisme de Rodrigues were also satisfied having been able to approach new markets, like Russia and Poland.

The content of such exhibitions is to expose Mauritius and Rodrigues to the world and boost tourism of these two islands.
