Mauritius ranks 1st of the prestigious ranking of the wealthiest countries in Africa. Indeed, with a per capital wealth equivalent to 21 700 USD, our island is on the top, according to The Africa 2016 Wealth Report. This report was published by Research and Markets in last April.
The reasons that have propelled Mauritius on the top are: :
- Many wealthy people have settled in the island
- The right to own property
- Low tax rates
- Almost no government interference in business
- The very good health of the financial services sector
- Low crime rate
The same report points out that many countries in Africa have seen their per capita wealth will increase significantly. These are, among others, South Africa with $ 10,300 or Namibia ($ 10,200). However, Zimbabw3ze does not form part of this ranking; indeed, the country is the poorest in Africa with a per capital wealth equivalent to US $ 200.
Globally, wealth per capita exceeds USD 200,000 in countries like Switzerland and Australia, among others.
