Grand Bay carries well its name. Located in the district of Rivière du Rempart, this vibrant village is dotted with one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Mauritius. Metamorphosis of Grand Bay

Even though if the village has not always been the first resort of the island, today Grand Bay has many residential partitions (morcellements), ocean front villas and RES that subtly blend with its unspoilt landscapes. Once known as a simple fishing village, the coast was intensively developed in the 70s, with the construction of the Merville Beach Hotel. The gentle tranquillity of Grand Bay has since given way to the vitality with the rise of new tourism infrastructures: new hotels, restaurants, bars and shops have emerged along the beautiful pristine shoreline of the village, to the delight of tourists... as well as expatriates and locals!

Along the coastal roads of Grand Bay and within the village, you can find a wide selection of restaurant and tantalizing foodies; it’s perfect to ravish some nice tasty foods with the amazing sea breeze. After partying all night at Insomnia, the clubbers walk down the streets in the early hours of the morning looking for Chinese meatballs or burgers, to satisfy the munchies!

A shopping paradise

The shopping aficionados will be seduced by the luxury boutiques located in the heart of the village, on Sunset Boulevard or at the mall Grand Bay Coeur de Ville; the village is a shopper’s paradise! This shopping center is one of the most popular places of the village with lot of local and international shops. The hypermarket Super U, well stocked with foods and household items, attracts many visitors. The latter enjoy a rest after their shopping in the food court along the mall. While parents relax, children join in at Fun World to ride the bumper cars while laughing with their siblings or friends who are riding on nearby cars. Teenagers enjoy themselves at Lucky Strike playing bowling. Such are the simple pleasures enjoyed by Mauritian in Grand Baie Coeur de Ville.

Besides the Super U shopping center, Grand Bay also hosts the largest Mall of the North of the island. Welcome to La Croisette where is situated the supermarket Intermart, offices, luxury apartments and luxury shops and also the Star cinema which propose new movies for the greatest joy of the Mauritian cinephiles.
