The historic part

Being a beach destination, Poste Lafayette is located in the eastern coastline of Mauritius like the other neighbouring villages such as Roche-Noires, the latter also belongs to the Flack district.

Renamed as Vuyle Bogt by the Dutch Jardis, the French gave this village a new name known as Poste Lafayette. Has the village inherited its name from the monitoring station located and managed by Jean Baptiste Charles Fayette? Other version mentioned that Poste Lafayette got it’s naming in honour of César Falliez , the logo of the Bugnot company, that touched the Mauritian grounds in 1722.

A village dedicated to holidays where there is the essence of living

Presently, Poste Lafayette is a discrete beach destination where exceptional bungalows are harboured.

The beautiful Villas of Poste Lafayette

Being far from the city buzz of Mauritius, Poste Lafayette offers several spacious areas located not too far from the pristine beaches.

The place is mostly visited in the summer seasons, due to the all year round prevailing cool winds. Along the costal road, several fishing villages can be seen.

If you wish to enjoy the beautiful beaches of the south-eastern coastline, head towards Poste Lafayette. This pristine beach doesn’t attract visitors due to its rough sea, so you can seize the chance to enjoy the serenity and exceptional quiescence. Being authentically rustic and having an unspoilt nature, this charming place never stops to please nature lovers. This discrete and preserved green habitat is home to massive coral reefs that creates a rich marine biodiversity for sealife and mangroves.

If you wish to enjoy a picnic in complete tranquillity, you may choose to walk to the south of the beach. You can enjoy your weekends by relishing on some savoury snacks proposed by the food sellers of the location. Were you aware that the southern part of the beach is the ideal meeting point to start off a trekking that will lead you to the north of Poste Lafayette? While making your way along the long rocky track, you can enjoy the green landscapes.

Enjoy a picnic close to the safe shelter of the trees

In certain spots, the sea is stormy and wavy and this is due to the closeness of the reefs to the lagoons.

Passionate kite surfers and amateurs of wind surfing will be delighted. With the all year round favourable trade winds, kite surf schools have chosen this location to make others practice & learn the sliding sports. The turquoise flowy water ensures great moments of thrilling sensations!

For those who prefer a Sunday swim, it is not so advisable to challenge your skills in this rough sea. You can enjoy some sunshine moments on the shore or in the shallow water while the kids are having a blast building up their sand castles.
