Mauritius is increasingly popular for medical tourism
Medical tourism was developed in 2005 in Mauritius and has experienced tremendous growth in the last seven years. In 2010, at least 10 000 people came to Mauritius for medical reasons. They originated from Madagascar, Seychelles, Reunion Island, France, South Africa and Great Britain.

A rapidly growing tourism industry

This niche in the tourism industry has flourished thanks to the quality and diversity of treatments available, which are combined with the attractiveness of the island. Patients may indeed benefit from dental care, orthopaedic treatments, hair transplants, plastic and cosmetic surgeries as well as IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). The quoted prices, which correspond to a third of European prices, constitute the main reason for this medical tourism influx. The foreign patients also appreciate recovering in such an idyllic location.

Le Centre de l’Océan Indien in Trou aux Biches

Centers that offer specific treatments include ’Le Centre de Chirurgie Esthétique de l’Océan Indien’, located in Trou aux Biches. Hair transplants, surgical and dental care as well as cosmetic surgeries are performed there.

With regard to cosmetic surgery, ’Le Centre de l’Océan Indien’ offers facial surgery treatments, breast surgery, body surgery and facial cosmetic surgery, frontal lifting, breast implants, liposuction and wrinkle correction.

Preparing your convalescence

After any surgery, there should be a resting period (convalescence)... which will be specially beneficial if you stay in a friendly and comfortable place which offers various services. Apart from the traditional hotel services, Mauritius offers bungalows and apartments that will help you recover from your surgery in peace.

On the website lexpressproperty.com, numerous accommodation offers are available to choose from. In a few clicks, you can identify a property that is both close to your health center and the beach... The perfect place to get back on your feet following a minor operation!
