In its TV program Capital, the M6 channel dedicated in November, coverage on the French who benefit from the low taxes prevailing in Mauritius to do business in our country. The Bricourt, from French ancestry, have thus opened a real estate agency, proposing locations to tourists coming to the island.
The news story also underpins the number of French who expatriated to Mauritius by becoming owners of villas costing a minimum price of 2 million and on which, they do not have to pay a wealth tax.
Some of those French foreigners who are owners of luxury residences rent their properties and thus, gather revenues for which they pay only 15% taxes whereas in France, this would not have been less than 45%. In total, the country counts not less than 10 000 French foreigners. This constitutes a pool of property investments.
